The Hyundai Kona will be given the full N treatment, Hyundai has announced. It’ll be the first SUV in the range to have the wick turned up.
No sticker pack here. Hyundai has announced it’ll give its rugged-looking, tiny-tot SUV, the Kona the full N treatment. It’ll be the first SUV to get the hot-hatch once-over.
Hyundai is keeping details under wraps but says it’ll get a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder which will likely be tuned like the one in the i30 N, although whether it’ll get the same 202kW and 353Nm of torque remains to be seen. Whatever the tune, the transmission will be the brand’s new wet-clutch eight-speed dual-clutch jobbie.

And, like other N models, it’ll get launch control, and likely Grin Shift, Track Sense Shift and more.
“As N brand’s first ‘hot SUV’, KONA N will offer plenty of versatility and driving thrills that N-thusiasts have come to expect from the brand. You can take this vehicle anywhere – from road to the track,” said Till Wartenberg, Vice President and Head of N Brand Management and Motorsport Subdivision at Hyundai Motor Company.

Hyundai will launch eight new N and N Line vehicles Down Under this year. Stay tuned for more information about the Kona N in the coming weeks and months.
