Mount Panorama has been immortalised in Lego and called, er, Mount Hondorama…yeah, this is a Honda thing.
While it’s not the first brand you think of when someone mentions Mount Panorama, Honda is claiming the hallowed Aussie track is special to it. Huh? Yep, remember when Jensen Button drove a Civic Type R around it and set a lap record for a front-wheel drive vehicle? Yeah, that’s why.
Okay, so, reasons for doing it aside, it’s still pretty cool to see Mount Panorama created out of Lego. The handiwork of Lego Masters’ Ryan ‘The Brickman’ McNaught, the model measures 3.3 metres long and 1.8 metres wide, weighs approximately 210 kilograms and took a team of eight builders more than 650 hours to construct, using more than 150,000 Lego bricks.
“The biggest challenge for us this year is the fact that we’ve got lots of moving pieces. Moving parts are very challenging to do with Lego, let alone having cars actually racing around a Lego model,” said Ryan McNaught, Lego Certified Professional. How do we get that job?
